The CCBC Gallery and What's Next
The photos that accompany each ceremony write-up were taken at the (Cowichan Performing Arts Lobby Gallery exhibit, Jan 8-Feb 27, 2024. (Duncan, Vancouver Island)
The following photos are in the intimate space of the Craft Council of BC Gallery, Mar-April, 2024.
One question I was asked during the artist presentation for the Duncan exhibit was "what will become of the art when the exhibits are complete?" It's a good question...
As of the writing of this blog, the art is packed in boxes. I am currently working on another exhibit that details years 3 and 4 of the ceremony work, The Land Dreams in Ceremonies: Re-Connection. And, I've been applying for exhibit space for 2025, 2026 and 2027. So far, there are no confirmed exhibits. So, in answer to the question, there are 3 possibilities for the art from the Reparation exhibit:
1 - it will have further exhibits, by itself or in-tandem with the upcoming Re-Connection series;
2 - if there is serious interest by an organization or gallery to adopt the exhibit, I will consider letting it live elsewhere;
3 - once I feel it has lived out its potential, or when I feel it is important to release it, the pieces will be ceremonially burned and/or buried.
For now, this blog serves as a virtual way to interact with the pieces and messages of the exhibit.
Blessings!
Nikki
